OSCAR WINNER LOUISE FLETCHER GUEST-STARS AS MOTHER OF SERIAL KILLER 'JACK OF ALL TRADES' IN NBC'S 'PROFILER'

From ULTIMATE TV

Oscar winner Louise Fletcher ("One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest") will guest-star in upcoming episodes of NBC's "Profiler" (Saturdays, 10-11 p.m. ET) as the wealthy mother of serial killer Jack of All Trades.

Fletcher, who won the Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award as Best Actress in 1976 for her performance as Nurse Ratched in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," will play Miriam, a wealthy matron who is visited by her murderous son. Her first episode, "Victims of Victims," is tentatively scheduled for broadcast in January 1998.

"Profiler" stars Ally Walker in the title role as a gifted forensic psychologist with a unique talent for understanding the criminal mind. Dr. Sam Waters' (Walker) ability to "think" in pictures and visualize serial crimes makes her a key member of the Violent Crimes Task Force, an elite team of professionals, headed by her mentor (Robert Davi), who investigate high-profile crimes throughout the country. However, Sam is stalked by a brilliant serial killer known as Jack of All Trades -- who murdered her husband years before -- as well as Jack's protegee, Jill (Traci Lords), who continue to harass her with a twisted cat-and-mouse game.

The Alabama-born Fletcher, whose parents were hearing and speech impaired, also received an Emmy Award nomination for her guest-starring performance in "Picket Fences."

In addition to Walker, Davi and Lords, cast regulars are Julian McMahon, Roma Maffia, Erica Gimpel, Peter Frechette, Caitlin Wachs, Heather McComb and Shiek Mahmud-Bey.

"Profiler" is a production of Sander/Moses Productions in association with NBC Studios. Ian Sander and Kim Moses are the executive producers; George Geiger and Steve Feke are the co-executive producers.

Academy Award-winner Louise Fletcher, on why producers kept bringing her back as "Deep Space Nine"'s evil Kai Winn: "They had such an investment in the hat." (She wears a decorative hat that bears more than a passing resemblance to the famed Sydney Opera House in Australia.)
